Dr. Dre has already teamed up with HP to bring us the sweet-sounding HP Envy 15 bundle (which comes complete with his Geek-tested and approved Beats by Dr. Dre headphones , and HP Beats Audio software), but now he’s lending his face to the campaign for a series of commercials that highlight what HP computers can do. And to top off her big week in tech , our favorite pop star Lady Gaga stars in a new ad from Monster to promote her Heartbeats...

I got the Arcade Aid Challenge through a friend of a friend of a friend. It’s part of Tron Legacy’s viral marketing campaign – needless to say, it’s working! Like a photographic Name That Tune for arcade games, all you have to do is name the 56 video games hidden within the city. You can move the screen around or use the map on the top left to find your targets. Once you click on it and enter your answer, the red dots...

At their GDC press conference this afternoon, PlayStation officially announced their new motion controller, the PlayStation Move. Previously known as the Arc , this controller will give gamers a more interactive experience on the PS3. The Move is said to be precise and accurate when paired with the PlayStation Eye , and will get you off the couch and into the game…  Read More →

Foursquare, Yelp, Gowalla, Loopt . . . now Facebook will include users’ locations in status updates and other posted content. According to the New York Times article, Facebook will announce the new technology at its annual developer conference in April. Apparently a team at Facebook has been working on the project for over a year, but it’s been holding off on releasing any part of it until it’s completely ready for widespread...

In case you haven’t heard the buzz, God of War III is coming out this month, and it’s going to be epic . Although Kratos (the main character) gives me the willies , I’m totally down to slash and burn with the best of them. I understand that gaming has traditionally been a “man’s world,” so to speak, but I couldn’t help but chuckle at the newest ad for the title, which is slated to start airing later...

I’m not sure if I’m supposed to be calling Comcast “Xfinity” yet , but I guess that’s not important right now – Comcast (or Xfinity, geez) announced yesterday that its newest update to the Comcast Mobile App (free) for your iPhone will include a remote DVR controller to record, edit, or cancel recordings on the go. Known as myDVR Manager, the app is available in select markets currently, but will be rolling...

I met my guy’s extended family for the first time over the weekend, and while it (thankfully!) went very well, I’m now stuck with a list of post-meeting tech related questions. First up: Facebook. We went to a party hosted by his sister, and as we said goodbye, she mentioned she’d post party photos on Facebook. I’d love to see them, but I’m not sure I’m ready to friend his sister. Not because I don’t...

For me, Spring cleaning means ripping out that rat’s nest of cords behind my desk and getting a fresh start with minimal cable interference. Thankfully, there’s a new wireless charger on the block that will help me keep things neat and tidy. Like the Powermat before it, the Case-Mate Hug ($100) charges your iPhone without all those nasty wires and cords. Sure, it won’t charge your BlackBerry …  Read More →

It’s already a tech-filled evening at the Oscars , as Steve Jobs was spotted on the red carpet , and the first iPad commercial aired during a commercial break! I caught it during the broadcast, but it’s up now for everyone to see. Check it out below!  Read More →

If you’ve ever played an MMO (massively multiplayer online game), you may be familiar with the gaming headset. It’s definitely the most effective way to game, as it keeps your hands free, and you don’t have to worry about the rest of your apartment dwellers listening to the person on your team talking smack. However, the headsets aren’t always so fashionable. Thankfully, Muse is tuned in to the geeks who want a little...

There are a few tech-sins I’ll cop to: not shutting down my computer as often as I should, yanking the headphones out of my iPhone to stop the music instead of just pushing the stop button, and, of course, leaving a ton of windows open in my browser . I’m not sure what I have against closing the individual windows, but for some reason typing “command + t” is so much easier than clicking on the “x” to close...

I won’t lie – I’m in love with these Yoshi laptop decals from Etsy . Choose between a solo Yoshi for $10 or with his sidekick, Baby Mario , for $7. Yoshi is close to my heart, being one of my favorite characters from the Mario series ( Yoshi’s Island , anyone?), so I would slap one of these on my computer in a heartbeat. Adding to the fun, you can order them in different colors if you have a fave. However, if you’re...

Just in time for the tail end of National Procrastination Week comes a website that helps you do good while . . . not doing much of anything else. Well, nothing else productive, at least. ProcrasDonate is a site that combines online procrastinating with donating to a worthy cause. To see how the site works, just read more. First, register with the site and download its free Firefox add-on software that monitors how you’re spending your...

This post comes from OnSugar blog The Frugal Geek , where reader Toddie blogs about indulging her gadget obsession without breaking the bank: So what do I currently own that I have been willing to spend my hard-earned dollars on? iPhone Granted, this isn’t exactly what one would call a “budget” item. But it has been worth every penny. When my prior phone contract ended, I was spending close to $50 a month for a phone that had...
