Boy, we’ve gone from rumor to hands-on experience in just a couple of days with this thing. Microsoft’s November 9 -bound Xbox 360 controller refresh couldn’t escape the clutches of Joystiq , who have put together a neat photo gallery and video overview. That chrometastic new D-pad is clearly the headliner here, and the early feedback is that it works well — it takes a bit of effort to transform from a flat button to...

Toshiba’s new LED-based pico projectors won’t shake the world with VGA resolutions, 14 lumens and just 80 minutes of battery life, but we have to admit the Lumileo P100 and Lumileo M200’s focusing dial and keypad do look a spot more stylish than some of the cubes and rectangles we’ve tried. And while we’ve just pretty much described the P100 model in full, the M200 has an additional feature …  Read More →

Three new iPods under one roof — how could we not throw on a table and see how they size up to one another? Obviously, the iPod touch is the black sheep here in terms of sheer physical space, but the width / height difference between nano is as marginal as you probably guessed. More pics below! Poor, poor Sony. First PSJailbreak splayed wide the PS3’s security model, now PSGroove has arrived calling itself the “open source PSjailbreak.” The code must first be downloaded and installed onto a $30ish AT90USBkey or a $25ish Teensy++ USB development board. After that, homebrew enthusiasts can then execute unsigned third-party apps and games on their PS3. At the moment, the ability to boot ISO files (read: pirated or “backup”...

Hey, what’s this? We just started hearing rumors this morning that Microsoft was planning a new Xbox 360 controller with an improved D-pad, and bang — Major Nelson just went live with a YouTube video detailing the new piece. The new D-pad is a trick new patented design that’s just as we heard from Joystiq : it’s a disc in the normal configuration, but a quick twist raises the crossbars about a quarter-inch, making it...

The company that kicked Mark Hurd to the curb for financial impropriety has today reported it’ll pay $55 million in a settlement with the US Department of Justice relating to some fiscal delinquency of its own. HP was accused of greasing up the wheels of business, as it were, by throwing cash around to companies who would recommend its services to state procurement agencies. This particular set of allegations related to a federal contract...

Verizon can’t be feeling too hot about being the straggler to the Galaxy S party , but the wait seems to be almost at an end. Best Buy’s just started taking in-store pre-orders for the Fascinate , while the latest internal document leak from VZW indicates a specific September 9 launch for the 4-inch Android handset. That’s when you should be able to snap the Fascinate up along with a prepaid data plan from Big Red, which fits...

We’re starting to think Samsung has given up the pretense of keeping the Galaxy Tab ’s details secret and is letting them all out now. Accessories for its upcoming 7-inch Android tablet have been spotted on one of Sammy’s many online portals, complete with pricing. The headline act here will be that “table charging station” on the top left, which happens to have a neat set of HDMI and audio output ports, making...

Back in February of 2009, the launch of Sony’s LocationPorter RVT-SD100 suggest that the days of needing a tricked out news van to transmit real-time on the scene video could be a thing of the past — that is, if you had a spare $18k lying around and a solid 3G data connection. The newly-announced RVT-SD200 and its companion RVT-MR200 expands upon that dream by enabling up to 12 LocationPorters to transmit images to one single receiver....

Unlike lots of other media streaming devices we’ve seen, this one is pretty straightfoward: the USB dongle plugs into your PC or Mac, the receiver plugs into your TV’s HDMI input, and what you sees and hears (on your computer) is what you gets (on the TV). The Wireless USB connection will stream video up to 720p and still images up to 1080p, as well as stereo sound. Available now from Amazon and whatnot for $150. PR after the break....
