Away From the Computer T-Shirt: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?
December 17th, 2009 admin
Yep, it’s another piece of geeky apparel . This shirt calls to mind my college days of living on instant messenger, declaring, ” I am away from my computer right now .” This shirt comes in both men’s and women’s sizes and is from the same company that makes another one of my favorite geeky tees . I like this t-shirt, but do think it’s best worn un-ironically – i.e., when you are actually away from the computer. What do you think? Away From the Computer T-Shirt: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic? Totally geeky! Geek chic!

Rocking a geeky watch is one thing, but this Time T-Shirt ($37) with a fully-functional digital clock ups the ante. The shirt uses electro-luminescence technology – a very weak electric current that passes through the shirt, causing the material to generate light and display the time. Don’t worry, it doesn’t radiate heat or use...
I seem to have a love/hate relationship with emoticons. On one hand, I have a soft spot for geeky emoticon products like this shower curtain and these emoticon magnets . On the other, I frown on the overuse of emoticons , especially when it comes to dating. You can probably guess how I feel about these Emoticon Throw Pillows ($12). There are five...

I won’t lie – I’m in love with these Yoshi laptop decals from Etsy . Choose between a solo Yoshi for $10 or with his sidekick, Baby Mario , for $7. Yoshi is close to my heart, being one of my favorite characters from the Mario series ( Yoshi’s Island , anyone?), so I would slap one of these on my computer in a heartbeat....
This geeky Retro Cell Phone Wallet ($25) is made to resemble an early cell phone. It’s a simple bifold wallet with lots of pockets and a clear plastic ID holder. It also comes with a 20 percent tip guide card. But the best part? An actual retractable antenna attached to the side, which to me, pushes it over the “totally geeky”...
Sweet! Another new vintage geek product to add to my wish list. The This Is Vinyl Tap Wallet ($8, and how great is that name?) is made from shiny polyester to resemble a classic 45. They have a zipper closure and come in two different designs. I’m a sucker for anything record-themed , but what do you think? View 3 Photos › Record Wallet:...
I’ve featured great geeky pillows in the past, but this one is so cute it stole my heart! The Mini Floppy Disc pillow ($19) features an adorable double-sided design made to resemble a smiling floppy disc (remember those?). Another one to add to my throw pillow collection. Check out this three pack of socks ($12.50) from Delia’s, all with geeky designs. One pair features a periodic table-like chart of common text messages (which could help budding geeks with their texting shorthand ), a second pair features mixed tapes (which, in my opinion, are always in style ), and the third is plastered with common online...
Check out this awesome piece of geeky jewelry I found. The Rubix Cube Necklace ($15) is bright, colorful, and geeky, but the best part is, it actually works! The large pendant is fastened to a long, silver chain (long enough, actually, for you to play with the puzzle cube while you’re wearing it). And wearing it will make you look like a...
I’ve noticed a ton of wood and bamboo products popping up lately and just spotted these Handcrafted Wood Shells for the iPhone ($40) available in bamboo, walnut, or cherry from Vers (which has a history of creating stylish and chic wooden electronics ). The impact-resistant cases have connector and camera openings, allowing full use of your...

This Video Makes Bill Gates Look Cooler Than Steve Jobs
[People]
OMG, I can hear the fanboys battling already. Here's a video from last night's CES 2008 keynote, Bill Gates' last for the foreseeable future. And I know its scripted, edited and contrived, but I'm sold: The man is a cool geek.
