Eye-Fi Geeks Out with Direct FTP Transfers

Eye-Fi has added a small, nerdy, but significant new feature to its Wi-Fi-enabled SD memory cards: FTP transfers. While beaming your photos straight to a sharing site such as Flickr is a very sweet trick, not everyone wants to send pictures direct to the web without editing them first. Adding FTP uploads gives the benefits of instant (ish), off-site backup, but keeps things private. Imagine that you are taking photos in a sensitive area: a civil protest, or perhaps in a country at war. Now you could have your photos sent off-site as you take them (if there’s no Wi-Fi, you can…
