Gigabyte T1028X and M1022X netbooks launch in Japan, Win 7 in tow

In anticipation of the Thursday’s launch, the crazy kids at Gigabyte Japan have refreshed two of their netbook lineup to include Windows 7 Starter. Unfortunately for the T1028X tablet we’ve been tracking for a while now, this flavor of the OS doesn’t support multitouch. While that makes a touchscreen far less attractive in our eyes, maybe you’re into that sort of thing. Who knows? That said, new OS aside, you’re pretty much looking at the same old netvertible. Also on tap, the M1022X brings the M1022M docking netbook up to speed, adding a 6 cell battery (boasting 8 hours of use) to the 10.1-inch, Atom N280-powered ultraportable. Look for that one to retail for

By Evan Ackerman My favorite netbook company, MSI, has just announced the retail availability of their latest and greatest extra portable and extra cheap laptops: the Wind U160. Besides a redesigned svelte exterior, the U160 brings along a 1.66 GHz Atom N450 and a shocking 15 hours of battery life. Even if you figure that you’ll only get...
Who wants to buy a $2,000 netbook? Well, if you’d like to walk away with one for $299.99 and a $60/mo AT&T data plan for 2 years, you can. Otherwise the smarter move would be to purchase it at retail price of around $599.99 and get a data plan from AT&T without a two-year commitment. But regardless of the method of purchase, if...
You don’t see many sub-13-inch notebooks hitting the streets these days that don’t fall into the netbook category: underpowered, light computing machines packing 1024 x 600 LCD displays, tiny trackpads, a power sipping Intel Atom processor and the usual assortment of copy and pasted netbook specs. Some people, though, want a netbook form...

It’s taken longer than we thought for a honest-to-goodness NVIDIA ION -powered within arm’s reach, but sure enough the HP Mini 311 accomplishes just that. Laptop’s managed one of the first reviews, and much like what the site intimated with earlier benchmarks , you’re looking at a surprisingly capable and sleek $400 netbook...
MyDellMini forum member Rob928, take a bow. This honorable gentleman has only gone and transformed an aging 9-inch netbook into a new-fashioned internet tablet . it might still be a chubby little thing , but there’s no denying the usefulness of using the entire screen to navigate instead of the usually cramped netbook touchpad. With a 16GB...
The yet-to-be-confirmed HP Mini 210 has popped up at a couple online retail spots already, but now it seems to have landed in the Real World courtesy of a Costco in Hillsboro, Oregon. We’ve seen the netbook listed at $280 , $320 and now $350 pricetags, so we really don’t know who to trust anymore (certainly not our parent’s generation),...

A Palin Convert
[US Elections 2008]
Last night, Sarah Palin gave a speech that was in theory meant to get people like me excited about the Republican ticket. This was one that should have gotten me back on board and excited about the McCain/Palin platform. Instead, it sickened me in a very deep and personal way.

Great for iPod owners who now have another brand of music player - iTunes will convert your AAC files to MP3 when you're ready to run away from Apple.
